Not that im over enamoured with young Fernandes but some important points should be considered on both sides to put the matter in perspective from both sides.

1) Not defending manny but its fair to say that it was publicly well known that he was second choice behind Gonzalas perhaos this came into his thinking.

2) He talent but was far from the finished article and will reamin so at befica a good two years of coaching the lad needs.

I have had my doubts about buying him from day one, friends from that part of the world say he is a lazy sod, we've had enough of that type lately. That said the bulk of fans see him as the answer..............only time will tell although, as I said above, I would not be upset if we lost the appeal

We need another striker who knows where the goal is. And all teams in the PL knows Yakubu has a good goalscoring quota. So they'll have to take him seriously, since if they don't.. they might very well end up paying for it.

And I think that's the key - his presence should make more space for AJ, and Cahill when he returns.

And although I still prefer Vaughan when fit over Yak, I can see some merit in a Vaughan / Yak duo up front, for example that may work well against Blackburn.

CT my comments are based on what local supporters think of him, people whose opinions I respect. I would think any move would help get him playing like he did a couple of years ago, at tthat time I wanted him before BT so even I have changed my mind. That said I hope that DM can get him playing only time will tell mate

I actually share your concerns about his work ethic, and potential impact on team spirit. I'm hopeful DM can deal with this, and frankly if we get one decent season out of him, then sell him for even a moderate loss to make space for Vaughan and Vic in the line-up, I'll be happy. I think though that just his goal-scoring record and physical presence will help open things up.

Not seen him much at Boro though, but I think that if Moyes really thought he was lazy and so on, then he wouldn't go for him.. and definately not for that amount of money. But as you said.. only time will tell..

I suppose I'm slightly intimidated by the size of his fee (Chico amend as you see fit) we should not forget that he's Joey's room mate on international duty and Joey works as hard as anyone at the club, fingers crossed it will all work out and if it doesn't I won't be as disappointed as the rest of you

11million is a big concern indeed, as I've pointed out, should have at least 15 goals return consistently every season. And I expect his finishing to be more lethal than AJ, anything less it's BT part II.
