Ok, I've never used this forum much, but I've been having a think about feedback. Thoughts on these ideas, please.

  • Elected President, VP, Hon Presidents of GOT (or title to be decided)
  • Memorial 'garden' for fallen blues we know or have posted on here
  • Book publishing to raise money for GOT. TW and NSNO and Kipper have this, why not GOT? LCAB's stuff for one could see the light of day and I'm sure there's loads more. Seems a natural extension to the mooted selling of t-shirts etc
  • One day 'sin bins' to augment the period of bannings already in place - as a rap across the knuckles
  • Poster of the week/month/year awards
  • Scrap the pretty much unused 'upgraded member' lounge and bring back the chatbox

If Dan has got an excellent deal on production, merchandising can fly. eBooks... well, maybe. Who'd be writing the books though - GOT or independents? It'd be worth doing "market research" via a poll to see how many people would buy an eBook, but coming up with an original idea for an Everton book would be a 'mare.

I've seen the "legendary threads" thing work on forums I've ran myself. It's used primarily as a reference point though, and it's not a major thing. It'd just be an addition but not exactly vital.

Book writing: I dont think there'd be any shortage of people on this site capable of knocking out something superior to the bulk of the trash I've seen published on EFC. For example, if Kipper's 'Me Arl Feller's Shouts' can find a readership I'm sure something like LCAB's sermons could. Original ideas are out there, they just need stimulating with an opportunity, mate.

'Legendary Threads': you have more experience than me, I'll go with your thoughts.

Instead of poster of the week/month have post of the week/month.

One for the more serious Everton based post and one for the more ale house comedy type post.

Works well on another forum i use so reckon it would do well here.

The chat box that we had turned into exactly what you think it would, and was deemed to be a waste of bandwidth, in the end there would be a week between shouts on it.

thats becouse it was on a differant page!

when the shout box (same as chat box) was on the main furom page it was taken down due to bandwidth and it was being used more than the threads were! i.e matchday updates!

should bring it back though and put it on the home page!

The Legendary Threads forum would require zero monitoring! All the Moderator does is lock the thread when it's done with, press like three buttons to move it to a seperate forum and it's done. Nobody can post on the topic anymore, it's read-only, so nothing can happen in the forum. The Admin can make certain parts of the forum view-only so that nobody can start new threads in it either.

That's very true mate, as the threads will all be closed.

Positives from this would be:

-Some threads are comic genius epitimising the Evertonian banter and spirit,

-It would also let new or current members see what is / isn't tolerated and why the thread was closed. (I know the rules and regs are there but it would expand on the 'relaxed' atmosphere we all cherish on here.)

-I suppose for a new member its a bit of a dive into an abyss. This could help.

-Seeing other members in action in legendary threads may possibly help bring the community closer and feel even less exclusive when there is long term, or private jokes flying around.

-It could make new members feel even more at home than they normally do, as the sample threads could prepare them for GOT life.

I think i've just said the same thing in four different ways here.

1.) Oh, my bad. I was confused for a minute there because you're one of the most prominent members on here!

2.) I can see how, because I had to run a poster of the month/year thing. It was incredibly difficult to run, and when we tried letting the forum members vote on it it was awkward. When we voted on it ourselves, people got pissed they didn't have a say.

It can conceivably work from a members point of few, but for the staff it is really, really awkward. I know why you're suggesting it, because I was the one who suggested it and stuck with it on my forum, but I'm just saying it's not easy.

3.) Never got here in time for the chatbox myself, but I can't imagine it would add anything useful to the forum. It would just be spammed with homoerotic jibes and ironic MOYLEZ OUT crap. Surely?

Since when does dropping political jibes every day make you a prominent anything?

In all seriousness, the idea's aren't bad Davek..

Thanks for the feedback. It's good to hear some insightful thoughts.

[*]Elected President, VP, Hon Presidents of GOT (or title to be decided)

Hmm. Not sure how that would work.

[*]Memorial 'garden' for fallen blues we know or have posted on here

Not a bad shout actually.

[*]Book publishing to raise money for GOT. TW and NSNO and Kipper have this, why not GOT? LCAB's stuff for one could see the light of day and I'm sure there's loads more. Seems a natural extension to the mooted selling of t-shirts etc

In the pipeline (y) The website had to come first.

[*]One day 'sin bins' to augment the period of bannings already in place - as a rap across the knuckles

Very good shout.

[*]Poster of the week/month/year awards

Pipeline (y)

[*]Scrap the pretty much unused 'upgraded member' lounge and bring back the chatbox

Horrific. Usage wise they're insane. They're impossible to moderate and comments drag into other forums and confuse all!

Lets be honest, there's no point in having a Poster of the Year as we all know who would win it every year. Although, I would allow the rest of you to fight it out for 2nd place.
