Howard doesn't react quick enough despite the entire ground screaming man on, worse is he actually stepped back before going out
Listen don't you know Howards experience of dealing with situations is absolutely vital?

He's extremely experienced in not knowing how to deal with any difficult situations at all.

How can a goalie who is nearly 38 be so bad at positions though? he's literally one of the worst goalies i've seen for getting into positions to react to things.

It was deflected yes, but he has to react. Other GKs do. I tell you what, that wouldn't have got past Butland. No chance. As for the backpass: that was the pair of them. Indecision was final there.

Sorry Dave...I generally agree with you, but nobody is saving that second one. He had the shot covered until it was deflected.

Watch it again. Stones makes the pass, Howard step back, hesitates, notices Ayew, thinks hmmm maybe I should try to clear this, steps towards the ball, fouls Ayew because he was too slow to react.

Stones should either boot it away to begin with or play the ball back straight away to Howard yet he takes forever and allows more pressure on the ball. It's ridiculous by Stones who think he can always play himself out of trouble. Stones does his job we ain't talking about this but it's 100% Howard's fault, ok mate!

Absolutely have equal fault.

No way Stones has done numerous times this season. Going back to keeper is always a last resort because he knows Howard will invariably mess it up. He played the ball back at the perfect pace for Horward to run on to it and kick it. For some reason Howard was unaware that Stones needed help, unaware that a striker was 10 yards away and actually moved away from the ball. Any other keeper in the league clears that no bother. Stones is responsible in so far as you pass the ball to Horward often enough and he will mess it up enventually.

Like i said to the other guy.

I respect your opinion, but you're wrong.

Next time he should just boot it straight at Tim's bollox, would get the crowd onside at least

Likewise, if Howard is aware of Ayew and that Stones is looking to pass back to him then he steps forward and clears it no problem, and we wouldn't be talking about it.

Nope, Stones messes up badly, but Howard never offers him an option. Dreadful.
His "option" is what 99% of defenders would and should do. Just hit the damn thing out of trouble. Not sure how much is Stones and how much is Martinez teaching that crap, but a defenders job first and foremost is to defend and get the ball out of dangerous areas. Today Stones didn't defend and he put the ball in dangerous areas. 90/10 blame at most for me with Stones getting the lions share. Howard is crap now, but he's too easy to scapegoat for things like this. Stones should deal with it plain and simple. Perhaps he was surprised his 50mil rated center half would do such a silly thing. There's a reason impartial observers put the blame on Stones. It's because it's his fault.

Couldn't agree more people need to think about the technique Howard would have had to use to clear by standing & letting the ball roll to him. Stones rolls the ball perfect weight to run onto and empty not clear from a standing start. He is killing us
