2024/25 Tim Iroegbunam

He looks an attacking player that has a decent tackle on him. I question his positioning at times, but I think he will be on of our more versatile players in the side. Moyes has kind of tested him out in a few areas and I can see why. It's just a matter of getting more minutes and consistency out of him.

Where do posters see would be his best position and role next season onwards?
Probably still to be determined, which is why I'd love to see him used more in the remaining games to see where he might fit best - for me he could be developed into the next Gueye or Doucoure.

He did well to get the assist for Tarkowski in the derby, and he's a good physical, tall player with a decent engine on him.

I haven't seen an awful lot in terms of creativity or an ability to split a defence with a killer pass, but neither Gueye or Doucoure have that in them, and there is still plenty of time and scope to develop and improve other areas of his game.

At this point he's merely a promising young player who may have a role to play as a squad player next season. Hopefully a big future awaits though; we definitely got by far the better deal with him and Dobbin.

I read something saying he was a 6 when he came and he then played there when I saw him at Preston in pre-season. But even though he had a good game, he didn’t look like a natural 6 at all. His instinct was never to pass, it was always to try and break the line by beating the man instead. Kind of like someone had experimented by dropping prime Peter Beagrie into defensive midfield.

As he gets more experience, I’m sure he’ll learn (or at least be yelled at!) to keep it simple more, but he still feels more like an agent of chaos than order - a natural 8 and maybe even a 10, who can press the opposition, win the ball high up, beat a man and force the other team into mistakes. If he plays deep, he might just force us into them!

Yeah i remember thinking/expecting him to be a 6 and look like Onana but with more 'drive' perhaps like he seemed to show at QPR.

At 8 he seems to want to do 1/3 of his role really and, like you say its chaotic. Decent sub to bring on a mix things up.

Hard to say where he'll end up imo.

Probably could have done with bringing him on earlier, as he seems to consistently offer energy in the midfield and likes to push forward. Beginng to strike me as a 'Jack of all trades' type of midfielder, with a defensive edge. I don't think it would do any harm to give him a game over Garner, who has tailed off a bit recently.
He is a good player with high potential IMO. Like you say.....more game time will do him well
