It allows us to start making all the other changes we need to make. And there are a lot.

We need a long term manager with modern ideas who will completely rebuild the squad and entire club. You cant carry out a rebuild while you have totally the wrong manager.

Nothing changes overnight by changing the manager. But nothing starts to get better until the manager is changed. We need a unifying force in charge who will be supported through the initial issues. We need everyone pulling in the one direction.

I cant watch this team right now because they aren't an Everton team. Anyone claiming things will turn around under Benitez is ignoring decades of evidence and is clinging on to false hope in my opinion.

Other teams have made the right call to replace their manager. We for some reason are allowing the inevitable to be delayed. Everyone knows how this ends - we've all watched enoughof Everton.
We have changed manager 6 times in about 7 years . What changed with all that. Not a thing .
The problems are with the owners making poor decisions. And they aren't goin anywhere.
Who would you suggest that will come in as manager that will reform the club?

Benitez is Moyes...Moyes is Einhorn...

:p

When we first had Moyes we had solid pro's who wanted to stay and play at Everton, now they want to get back to their mansions to instagram what they are doing tonight. You can no longer shout a team into shape anymore but Benitez like Moyes given time will organise us and get a certain level of player who will try and compete. It's just patience required at this stage and a will to see past his previous employers.
Totally agree that's why I think we need someone who is what moyes was once like. Fresh , adaptable and motivated for success.

Like you say the job has changed so the managers have to. Benitez is a time capsule from about 15 years ago.

There is nothing wrong with changing manager. Its normal in 2021.

I wanted Potter. But its not my job to scout managers. The idea there are not managers out there who can improve us is a bit silly in my opinion.

We need a new DOF alongside a new manager. Brands position has been untenable for a long time.

Why would potter come here ?

What’s his credentials? One manager of the month award and a losing FA cup finalist.

Get him in now, 10 year contract, that’s the kind of guy we need.

Did get to the playoffs in the championship, so could be handy when we go down.
Something different to what we have gone for before. Young and hungry. We aren’t attracting a top manager. He would need time but I think he would be a good appointment.

A new DoF isn't going to change anything if his (or her) role is completely meaningless and others go over their head, or external 'advisors' have more influence when it comes to strategy and transfers.

Literally missing our three best players, have had zero squad consistent since the first few weeks, when unsurprisingly we were playing good football.

I don't understand what people expect. This is a top 10 quality first XI when fit and a championship quality squad.

All well and good just sacking him, but what does that achieve? This is a much bigger and deeper problem, and the fact that he is already working behind the scenes by shaking up the medical department, shows that he will attack it as a whole of club issue.

Brands, Moshiri, Koeman, Walsh, Allardyce and even Carlo to an extent, have all caused problems that can't be just pushed away in a day.

We are dire and will be for some time, but I don't think another managerial payout (which hits our FFP) is worth our while...

He's another Gerrard/Solskjaer for me - few decent results here and there but nowhere near enough tactical nous - look where he had the current Chelsea side they were below us last season!

The only realistic manager I would take the day Benitez leaves is Biesla and even then after 1-2 seasons we would likely crumble under him as thats his style.

Ten Hag and Poch are fantasy talk, Big Diego is all but a wet dream.
I think Lampard is different to those tbh, very early days and I might be wrong but I think he’ll be a top manager.

His issue with that Chelsea side was too many players signed in one window. All seem to click now.

I think the question should be…. Was this the right decision?

For all the Benitez supporters can anyone please explain either

1. Why was he the right man for the job? (If of course there were any other options)

And

2. What (if anything) have we seen in the first 12 games that suggests that he was the right choice… tbf would give til 19 games, but cannot see anything changing… especially our points tally in that time.
