On the exit point, I do remember seeing James Cameron bolted into a capsule for one of his dives and thinking 'bloody hell, do not like the look of that'. Maybe an intrinsic part of the design for something like this? Like, better/safer pressure resistance without a hatch that is one more thing that can fail under pressure?

Totally with you on the comms point, you'd think an automated beacon that pinged as soon as hit air would be attached.

Seems obvious and simple? Serious journalists and scientists are repeatedly fielding the question of why there is no self contained and independently powered “black box” by saying gps signals etc don’t work through water. Then also saying hard to find on the surface as the amount that protrudes above the water is small. I’d have taken about 12 black boxes on board and a bag of those Apple AirTag things.

I guess said scientists are trying not to be critical given the circumstances. Fair enough. But the operator is looking incredibly amateurish and reckless as more info emerges. Can getting disclaimers signed absolve you from criminality??

Its bolted from the outside so nobody has a freak out half a mile down and tries to open it.

Not to be morbid, but that's not really what happens. It's apparently quite painful as organs gradually shut down, after the delirium and searing headaches.

If the pressure goes, it would be instant Mikey. Like a skyscraper falling on you.

Once lungs stop working, (no oxygen/infection), the heart follows pretty quicky afterwards. The fear and dread is most likely more terrifying than the actual end. If they get to that.
