To be a "big club"

I think that proves that a "big club" is not related to historic success. Nobody would even consider Sunderland anywhere near Chelsea. I worry that we are forgotten and will become a bury or Blackburn in the next 50 years.
We are forgotten now, just like at mid season media debates on who might make this seasons top 4, we can be sitting 5th and the talk will go straight from whoever is 4th to the 6th place side if it's Spurs or Arsenal.
Only way for us to become relevant again is win one of the cups next season. Thankfully were not stuck in the Europa so we have enough free time to throw everything at it.
We all love Everton, no one else's is interested

Some people who don't really follow or know about football do know mu and the pool due to the media coverage.
A person I know of the above category was surprised to hear Everton were in Liverpool. He said he thought they were from one of those mill towns near Manchester.

I've had the pleasure of working all over world and I remember talking to some Barca colleagues after we signed deulofeu and digne/gomes. They were genuinely surprised to find out we were based in Liverpool.

Same with Madrid, Indian and siganpore colleagues. We are nobodies in modern football.

To be a big club you have to be playing in Europe every season and making a go at it. That’s what gets the media taking notice of you.

Can’t believe I’m seeing the Europa getting dismissed when it offers a back door into the ultimate prize.

What’s the point in going all in for a new stadium when there’ll be a chance of only playing 19 games a season there. The top players aren’t coming here to play in front of 20,000 crowds while another promoted team walks away with the 3 points and sets their sights on a europa spot. Bournemouth on a Tuesday night or the chance of seeing AC Milan / Dortmund etc on a Thursday in a packed out ground.

Cringe when I see other clubs getting accused of being entitled yet the talk is how Everton should be treated with respect by the media / uefa and getting top 4 spots when doing nothing to earn it. This is entitled behaviour.

The small time thinking has to be knocked on the head. Think big and forget what other clubs are doing.

It is funny, I have had the opposite experience. They have generally heard of Everton and know about Everton.

Yes, they may not directly always know we are from Liverpool but it is not obvious by the name that we are from Liverpool, therefore I can forgive it sometimes as most will take a passing view of English football and not even know basic UK geography.

Although, I have one cool story. Went to an FC Zagreb game, small fan base, etc. Got taken to this guy's office after we asked a random person where we could buy scarves, he pointed us to the main ultra guy. Anyway, we were in this office with about 3/4 skinhead types, shitting ourselves when one casually asked who we supported and when I told him a big beaming smile came on his face and then he went through 'Evertonians are born' mantra. Had a right laugh with them.

In conclusion we are not nobodies, if they happen not to know then educate them (politely, of course), don't just simply think that we are nobodies because they don't know that we are from Liverpool.
