It's not though is it, otherwise argentina would have won a pot. No one way ronaldo bottles it at the world cup, roma and anfield like messi did
Argentina don't play in a league do they? It's all cups. The closest thing they do is World Cup qualifying and they consistently boss that.

One offs are crazy in football. Saying Messi bottled it because he lost a World Cup final is silly. Ronaldo's great success in international football involved him going off hurt. I prefer the big picture. These guys have played 700 games. Picking out 3 is mad.

Argentina easily gain a qualifying place (as they should really in the large single South American group) but don't always boss it at all.

Last time (to qualify for 2018) Brazil won it from Uruguay with Argentina in third

Messi has largely underperformed at international level, maybe it's the team at fault but he hasn't consistently shone in the way he lights up club football.

Portugal have on the whole been ranked below Argentina but Ronaldo has often starred despite the drawbacks of his international team.

Both sides tend to play to their greatest strengths which mean both stars have had opportunities to shine at international level.

One has and the other largely hasn't.

Ah. I thought without looking they were near the top again. I think they were in 10 and 14.

I think another thing to examine when talking about Messi with Argentina is that the federation is a mess and the management is often terrible. I mean Maradona was not qualified at all to be manager of what was a possible winning side in 2010.

Its those margins that seperate the two best, I've never seen ronaldo give up and blame others, seen messi do it quite a few times and his latest outburst is damaging and frankly pretty stupid, he's come out of looking very poor

This stuff should always be handled privately, but I have no problem with him being livid at Abidal.

Its not baseball, the numbers don't tell the full story, and regardless i don't think saying he wrong and arrogant to make the statement he has or that ronaldo is a superior leader is overriding a whole career.
They don't but having watched both extensively, I've never seen anyone like Messi. The numbers backing that up are a bonus.

There's a reason Ronaldo wasn't even close to captain when he left Madrid.

Messi played for a wonderful Barca side and won loads
CR7 played for a terrible Madrid side and won loads

Messi played for a terrible Argie side and won zip
CR7 played for a terrible Portugal side and won the Euros

Thats the difference for me.
In what world was Madrid a terrible side?
