Serie A, La Liga and the Premier League have all at 1 point been the dominant force in European football.

But never DAS SPL.

Bayern has always been Bayern.

We dominate European club football and have done for the last 10 years or so.

All English European finalists in both comps last season too.

Despite it not being a vintage season by his own standards, Messi is still absolutely miles ahead of everyone else. In a league of his own.

Didn't he play centre midfield that season, with de Bruyne out injured?

I think that going from D. Silva, B. Silva and Fernandinho to de Bruyne, Rodri and Gundogan most weeks has cost them this season, despite the fact that de Bruyne is the best player around.
He took over at RW (and Sterling moved to the left) when Sané fell out of favour from around December onwards that season I think. I really think his marginalisation is in part down to his own less impressive form. Rodri has clearly had some teething problems but seems to have settled better now.

Watching the horribly named MLS is back tournament has convinced me that MLS teams would at best be fighting for a mid table championship spot. I think a lot are league 1 level. It's pretty dire.

Don’t think any of us have ever claimed MLS is better than that beyond a few individual players, we only get mad at the bantz ladz who think it’s like a Sunday league

It won't ever be at the level of the top 5 leagues with the nonsense salary cap and other rules in place.

I don't mean the forum specifically. There is always this "How good is it really?" hanging over the league and I just think the answer is that it is worse than most people realize. I mean the US national team is regularly drawing players out of there and I'm not sure that would be happening if the perception was that it is essentially lower level championship.
