Think most people have a problem with the implementation of the offside rule, but fair enough if you don't. Defo agree about the penalties and red card thing though.

VAR is meant to make things fairer but I think most fans feel that hasn't been the case so far.
The "benefit of the doubt to the attacker" cliche, which as far as I know hasn't ever been a thing referees are actually instructed to do, makes a lot of people think that close calls are wrong when in reality offside is offside.

It's a nonsense rule of you ask me. It should be daylight. You get no advantage from millimeteres. Its a pedantic rule that deprives us of more goals.

So how do they get a correct line if the camera they are looking at isn't in line with the play?
I can't find a good article about it but apparently they have something they call "crosshair" technology that operates similar to Hawkeye for tennis but with the addition to pinpoint spots for offside lines. I really can't explain how it works but it is supposed to be on par with goalline tech in terms of accuracy.

I don't agree with that change but I see why people want to do it. But it also will not eliminate close decisions like the one today on its own. As long as there is a line this will happen.

Just don't see how the line can not be from the camera unless they have things on the players. Anyway it was a shocking decision.
