1-0 to Boca so River went through on aggregate. Really low quality game. River didn't do anything with the ball but it didn't matter because they're pressing and organization was good and the Boca attackers (Abila and Salvio especially) were completely useless. Only goal was a set play with about 10 minutes left. How did it end? River are miles better.
The last sentence shows why I would be useless at predictions.Anichebe had potential the likes of everyone could see, but playing in a Moyes system made him utterly useless and nothing but a hold up ball merchant at best.
Managers influence players a lot. Pep influenced Sterling a lot.
Edit: If anything though, testament to Sterling's desire to actually work and improve himself.
We tried, last of the big spenders. It's still completely baffling to me that no one will make a run at signing Ziyech
Interesting. 4m is 75-80k a week which is probably more than he's on at Ajax, in a better league and with a better chance to make an impression on the top end CL clubs than in the Eredivisie and he chooses to stay. It's a weird one imo but to each their own.We tried, last of the big spenders.

Suggestion CL star had €4m offer from Everton - Elected to sign new deal at current club - Sport Witness
After their Champions League exploits last season, there was something of a fire sale at Ajax this summer. The big clubs came calling for their best players, with Juventus taking Matthijs de Ligt and Frenkie de Jong joining Barcelona. One man who didn’t get a move, despite playing a significant...sportwitness.co.uk

It can't hurt.Just offer them more money mate, they will come.

It can't hurt.
But it is a weird one if your ambition is to play at the best clubs and that last Ajax season didn't do it. I dont know what he thinks he could accomplish there this term that would change those teams minds. Meanwhile doing it in the PL would show everyone what you are capable of.
I’m like that mate, I never rated Sterling at all, probably because he was RS.The last sentence shows why I would be useless at predictions.
When he was at the RS to me he displayed all the attributes of a silly little South London boy wasting obscene amounts of money in a feckless lifestyle I had him down as a lid who would soon be back on the move darn sarf ending up in obscurity playing for Charlton or Reading and falling out of night clubs. Made up for him that I was wrong.
This coming btw from someone who said Ian Rush would be a one season wonder.
He said in the summer he wanted to leave but only Sevilla, and now supposedly Everton, had interest which he didn't care for. So it seems like he wants to step up.Hes playing the CL and challenging for the title.
Not everybody is motivated by money and fame.
I mean he probably is, but I personally wouldnt leave Ajax to play for Everton.

They challenged for the title. I'd be surprised if they did again. And that's why I'm not sure staying at Ajax is good when there isn't much more you can do to improve your stock.
Ajax really aren’t up to much. I’m quite surprised. We’ll probably still lose though.
