Is this not when he should be showing his management skills.
Even adopt a sean dyche approach ?
He had a sulk with Ryan Fraser remember, he was a great engine for them, could be difference between mid table or the drop.
Comes back to the argument, do you show pragmatism and adapt your approach to suit the players you have or stick to your principles and accept that mistakes will happen? Bournemouth have gone for the latter.
I think Howe has and is fostering a certain playing style and a certain culture down there that, they believe, will reap rewards long term. It’s certainly paid off for them to date. But if you try and play that style of Football without top level players, you’ll always struggle at times.
Inevitably it means that they go through spells like this, which they have done as long as they’ve been in the league. They always finish strong and never struggle. I think for them it’s got to be a long term project to remain a Premier League team and to be seen as a place where top young players can go and get regular game time and be taught how to play how top teams should play. Pressing, attractive Football on the deck. They don’t get that at a Burnley or a Palace.
Brighton are doing something similar with Graham Potter. These clubs want to encourage young players to see them as a stepping stone to better things. Look at Harry Wilson who has done really well there on loan, he’ll likely go back and go straight into the Liverpool team.
