A bit of an obvious statement, but David Silva has been such a huge loss for them.

Amazed pep didn't go for a more possession oriented midfielder after he left. The combo of his pressure and De Bruyne's greater physicality/longer range of passing was the main way they used to dominate teams and now they are relying solely on KDB.

He thought a combination of Foden, Gundogan and Bernardo was adequate and it is pretty clear that he was wrong. Honestly James Rodriguez would slot into that position nicely for them.

He would, but Silva's pressing and ball retention was really underrated and I wonder if they would bully as much sides with James, who lacks that pressure. (But makes up for it with literally everything else.) He's not really a Guardiola player imo.
