2011 it was

I remember that well, I was there and travelled all the way from Hastings with my now ex to Blackburn on the National Express just to see the match. We arrived the night before and stayed in this pub/hotel down the road from the ground, in that hotel the fire alarm woke us up at 4 in the morning and couldn’t get back to sleep (someone accidentally set it off).

We were knackered the following morning and someone staying there asked the owner “Has Steve Kean been sacked yet?”, being when he put the newspapers out at breakfast.

After a few coffees to wake us up and a few beers afters, we trudged to the ground feeling tired again, but still was alert enough to see the Toffees win and realise how all damn worth it all that was.

Like you say, there is nothing to stop an attacking side take a quick free kick, (Leon Osman a few seasons ago springs to mind), but if they are prevented from doing so cos say a defender quickly stands by the ball to stop them, the ref will agree to let them get set.

Its like there isnt a rule that says a team must boot the ball out if someone is hurt, but they do.
