If you're an attacker with a shooting chance definitely. But what about crossing the ball or when there is no shooting opportunity? You don't think players will exploit that for a penalty?

No. I think it’s fine margins at such an elite level and when you’re in the box with a defender in front of you, you’re always going to be trying to carve out a shooting/passing opportunity. Hodgson was just a bad loser. Didn’t see him making such an impassioned plea last week when it benefited them.

Unsure if you've ever played football before but your arms swing naturally as you run or spin round unless you wear one of these on the pitch.

When it happens to us in 3 weeks at the Derby, I doubt anybody will find it funny.

I think we've all just got to accept it. The rule's a bit mad, but things will even out. Until March, part of defending is being good at keeping your hands by your sides now.

I have no problem with Dier getting called for a handball there. So long as the refs consistently give it. Ward's hand was nowhere near his body. It's a handball. Same with Dier.

Removing interpretation is a good thing IMO.

Deliberate implies intent. A naturally moving arm connecting with a ball is not always deliberate. None of them are pens.

If that pen yesterday was given against us no one on the forum apart from you would say it was a penalty.

Totally agree with this. Managers always moan when it goes against them but keep quiet when it goes their way. I do think we'll see players trying to use it to their advantage, though. I guess only time will tell.

Very true. They will very much pick and choose as they see fit. At least there is no "Famous Anfield 12th Man" to influence them for the foreseeable, though.
