Today’s Football 2020/21 Season

It’s not the same anymore. The moment finalists stopped recording cheesey songs to mark their appearance in the final also marked the moment when the cup was no longer relevant.

You could also pinpoint it when the BBC stopped showing stuff like “Breakfast at the teams hotels”, supporters travelling up to Wembley on the busses being interviewed, a local butcher showing us his “Cup Final Special” etc. Back then the cup actually meant something.

To me these days it’s just a trophy and not one that will change the world as far as Everton Football Club is concerned.

My thoughts too it's barely better than the league cup - a trophy which may (and probably won't) lead to better things.

The cup doesn't help league form, that's absolute rubbish, an Alan Shearer pearl of wisdom that totally disregards reality, it's more likely to be the exact opposite.

Domestic cup winners relegated soon afterwards and still lower league clubs today ...

Swansea, Portsmouth, Wigan, Birmingham City, Middlesbrough

So many domestic cup winners have been relegated, if not the same season then in the year afterwards. Bristol City's promotion run went haywire when they had a cup run. Beware the effect of the FA Cup - Watford humiliated 6-0 two years ago in the final never really got over it.

A stepping stone at best but often a huge negative for other ambitions.

Tell Louis Van Gaal or Roberto Mancini what the magic of the FA Cup means, both sacked straight after winning it.

West ham have left

wolves away
home to Leicester,
away to Newcastle,
home to Chelsea,
away to Burnley,
home to Everton,
away to Brighton,
away to west brom,
home to the saints

Theyve not won this yet :)

I think they'll get 4pts from their next 4 games ;)

Seriously though, how have we ended up being a much worse team than West Ham despite spending loads more money and hiring an elite level manager whilst they sign the manager we've spent years mocking.

Most Everton thing ever
It began when moyes left. And ended when he went to west ham

Moist has brought in/developed players at WHU with grit and pace.

Said it for ages we made the mistake of hiring a DOF who has spent years signing players suited to the Eredivise and you see it in players like Gomes, Delph, Iwobi, Bernard - slow tippy tappy weak as pish.

Soucek, Coufal, Bowen, Rice, Dawson proper Moist players who'll battle.

Hope it works out for him there.

he has his back to the goal bull in a china shop CF, and now has his goal scoring hybrid foward/mids in Lingard and Sousek.
