Argentina won the Copa America this summer with Messi - and made a World Cup final with him. Great player, Ronaldo, but his all-time international goalscoring record is for the birds, really. He doesn't have many goals in World Cup knockout rounds.

The current players gave everything, and something like 8 of them have less than 10 caps.

Bazunu impressed me in his few appearances with Rovers. City snapped up a bargain, and I see he is on loan to Portsmouth at the moment.

Only 19, he was very assured, made some great saves,and couldn't do anything about the two goals.

Yes, they did their best and deserve full credit, but they're collateral damage in the farce that is the FAI.

We just don't produce the players anymore, though the young keeper has a future.

Tbh it's world cup finals tournament that matters far more and Ronaldo does score some great goals even in recent memory.

Up until very recently indeed Messi had won nothing at all with Argentina then. Tbh with Covid etc I'm not sure how much kudos should be given to even his recent win.
