If you're pressing all the time you have a better chance with a defender who reads nothing but has pace to fix it than someone who can read it well but is out of the play after a mistake, whether it's his or someone else's.

I think they just got a bit over excited and got the wording wrong, initially poor positioning and defending but a great recovery.

Isn't that the definition of poor defending though? If you need to be absolutely rapid to stop a goal, you aren't a good defender.

Yes, that is exactly what I said, it was poor defending and he recovered well to block the shot. I have no clue and don't really care whether he is a good defender on other occasions but in that one clip my opinion is agreeing with you, it is poor defending but I have added that he recovered well and that is maybe what they meant more than 'Wow, what a player, he is a great defender'

I am literally agreeing with you that it was not good defending. I don't really care what they put on the headline/description, I only added that he got back well and recovered, as my opinion of the actual play.

Think the main problem in that situation is communication. The entire attack is avoided and Bayern win possession back if Upamecano gives the midfielder a shout to let him know he’s better positioned to deal with the ball.
