Nobody is saying you should jump with your arms by your sides. In much the same way it’s accepted that tackling carries an inherent risk, defending (including jumping) with your arms away from your body for protection, balance, etc runs the risk of handball.

To save me typing it out again. If someone mistimes a tackle in the box you don’t swerve giving a pen because it’s an accident.
