Branthwaite’s only had the one touch but it’s a good sign that he backed himself with that nice pass forwards for the full back when he could quite easily have just gone square or back to the goalie.

I think this is a great loan for him if he can get good game time.

Sunderland 5 mins or so away from becoming the 10th Championship club dumped out of the League Cup this week by a L1 or L2 side and 11th in all counting Millwall’s exit last week, still could be a 12th as Boro are behind to Barnsley with seconds to go

Adding Huddersfield, Birmingham and what’s looking likely as Coventry from all Championship ties, that would mean 15 out of 20 Championship clubs out that have played ties (West Brom and Sheff Utd play each other tomorrow, Watford and Burnley got byes for this round)

That would leave just the following from the second tie in Round 2

Blackburn, Preston, Norwich, Watford, Burnley, Bristol City, West Brom/Sheff Utd, Rotherham
