For the umpteenth time we paid nothing upfront for Beto and very little for Chermiti. Also Villa were on an upward curve when they signed Dhuran, no guarantee he would have signed for us even if we could afford his transfer fee and wages, which we couldn't.

…ha, ha, the point being that there’s value out there even on a limited budget. Paying nothing up front is really no excuse for acquiring Beto, especially when at some point we’ll have to pay for him.

Well Eggs you literally posted that there was

"No excuse for signing Beto" which means that either:

A: You expect a different team to give us their star centre forward for free

OR

B: To go into the season with DCL as the only senior forward on the books.


I doubt you are THAT stupid to go for option B...so perhaps you can enlighten the forum with the team who would give Everton their star forward for free??
