I think so too mate, they'll be still laundering their own towels in 2050 at this rate like :)

Can you imagine Adidas will be happy to pay 225 million over three years to a team not in the Champions league?

No. Me neither. If they don't get Champions league this year that's three years out.

No way it won't start impacting them

Maribor were 11/2 to beat Celtic. I backed it.

Well played Jarg Celtic, champions of the jargest league. I hope they go pop and are relegated to division 2.

As Rangers come up as well, and hopefully they have gambled on getting tv money for the derbies and they go pop for the 2nd time.

I hope you don't think that i'm arguing to the contrary. Sure the sponsors have clauses. Any idea what the stated minimum expectations were this year at their AGM ?

How many years did Liverpool not get into the champions league?? I think it would take quite a few more years for United to lose its commercial pull.

Its like formula 1. You have to keep it continuously generating pushing forward or revenue drops off quickly as the sponsors lose interest.

United's main sponsors are non UK based.

Can you imagine they will be happy paying top dollar to be associated with a team that finishes 7th and not in the Champions league?

Really?

75 million will be cut to 25 million very quickly.

What i think will become really interesting to follow, is what Van Gaal and what United will do down the line.

- If his system won't start working, will he revert to playing a tactic which isn't his ideal, and can he get that to work?
- What if, Van Gaal only reaches none or very low results? Another firing?
- Van Gaal just turned 63. If his time at United is mediocre. Where will they be when he decides now is the time?

I just don't think they really realise how big a part of United, Sir Alex was. He is without a doubt in my mind the greatest manager to ever grace the sport. Alex Ferguson was United, United was Ferguson for 27 years. United with Ferguson, isn't the United of now. The respect for the team, the manager, the club, the institution that was United 1986 - 2013 is in the history books.

The new United is unlikely to have the same manager for more than five years. Will they be able to build a foundation for the man to succeed Van Gaal?

They have some real quality in the last part of the field, having added Di Maria, who is a great player. But they've now spent 130 million £'s, and their defense and central widfield, lack serious quality.
