Quite possibly the reason Hodgson played him despite knowing he was unfit to "test his resolve"

Don't agree with rushing players back myself but I guess it can be very frustrating if you think they are exaggerating it, especially if you have limited positions you need to fill for a tournament squad with no access to even the youth reserves as backup.
