tbf away at a newly promoted team is as hard as a first day fixture as possible (apart from top four obviously). I've been reading the Shed End and even they're fearful of it.

I think a home game vs a big 4 team is exactly what we need to kickstart our season.

Last year it was Chelsea, year before it was Man U. It's a good kind of morale booster without the pressure.

And a surprisingly frank exchange from RAWK on today's game......

Ward-Prowse had a world of joy against Gerrard. Lucas wasn`t all that good but Gerrard was worse. It`s not about them individually it`s that as a partnership they are simply not very good. We seriously can`t go on with two DM`s that can`t run anymore, if we do that against City we`ll be in a world of trouble.

Think Stevie and Lucas' best days are behind them. With or without Lucas, Gerrard had a very poor game. He's showing his age, if Ward-Prowse can do that to him, I shudder to think of what better players will do. And the idea that we have to field other midfield players to do the hard yards for him simply doesn't wash in modern football, more so in the premiership with its pace.

I do think other teams genuinely think Goodison will be one of the tougher games they face in a season but pressure is on us to get 1 win or at least 2 draws out of them
