Everton have two vociferous national captains in the team now. Is there a good reason why we should persist with handing Jagielka the armband for any longer?

Retiring in 18 months Dave. Your pain will be over soon ;)

He'll be well dropped before then. Koeman being diplomatic atm, but he'll want the blend he had at Southampton here.

It was interesting to hear him talk about the importance of blend in the two central midfielders and I'm sure he wants that throughout the team.

True leaders dont need an armband.

They don't. But the player who holds it should be a leader themselves otherwise it makes a mockery of the concept of team leader.

I can't think of a reason Jagielka should be our captain. He doesn't organise his back four, he doesn't act to confront referees on behalf of the team, he obviously feels uncomfortable representing the club in post match interviews.

He's the captain Moyes made just before leaving for United and he's saddled us with one of our worst in my memory.
