Happily I can make the following without fear of offending Patrick Power

Just like to reiterate for anyone still desperate to go into Billy Hill's to place a bet - whether today or at the game (outside or inside)

Rush to your local @WilliamHill for cut price odds - Juve 3-3 Online 80s, LBO 50s, Cardiff-Newc 66/1 40/1 Rangers/Celtic 66/1 40/1

...listened to Troy Deeney on the radio last night, he's not afraid to tell it as it is. Anyway, his message is the game has gone too soft. It resonated with what a couple have been saying on here (@Armaghtoffee and @ijjysmith mention mental strength and players who can put in a tackle).

Deeney said players are just too nice. It annoys him when they swap shirts in the tunnel at half time, he said a Arsenal are the worst culprits. He said you need players of real character, players who play like the game really matters. When Gary Speed and Shearer were at Newcastle they let players know when they weren't performing but you rarely see it now.

He said the youngsters coming through think they've got it made. At the training ground he dines alone but watches which youngsters don't take their plates back and gives them a rollicking if they leave them on the table. Interesting, but it is important to have that balance in your dressing room. Deeney says Behrami 'leaves one in' on players in their squad who are idling, nobody messes with Behrami.

I don't think our present team has that attitude at all but I'm confident Koeman will address that in the window.

Too many footballers are just lucky to have been born athletic and to be pampered in some elite football academy. To wear team track suits in front of your school mates must be quite an ego boost and to paraphrase the Royle quote on Big Dunc, they are stars before they are footballers.

Hopefully the winning mentality of our U23s will bleed into our seniors along with the influx of of stronger characters in the summer window. In my opinion, the job Koeman faces in changing our mindset is as challenging as Moshiri's role in transforming our balance sheet.
