On paper alone they fielded a pretty strong team with strength in depth on the bench as well, but there seems to be so many weak links.
They'll undoubtedly find a run of form at some point of the season based on their quality alone, however a downward spiral looks likely.
Their squad seems to have a collective weak will. For years they've done enough to qualify for the Champions League, sometimes just scraping by, and their players celebrate it like a Brazilian World Cup winning team.
They've taken a few hammering's from elite teams, meekly accept it then pose for topless selfies when they beat a team without the same resources 2-0 a few weeks later. You almost get the impression that playing actual games is an inconvenience to them getting in the way of their social lives. I'll bet they have great fun playing 5-a-side in training. The one player who has a real winning mentality, Sanchez, seems to want out.
I'm sure they will push for the top four this season, but they failed last season to do it. Already they have conceded 8 goals in three league matches. The fan unrest though in a minority has grown year on year.
