Thought the Rovers were the "real" proper Bristol club? Weren't City derided as FC Bristol Franchise a while ago? Could be wrong..

City went bust about 30 plus years ago, and only survived cos a load of players tore up their contracts. So Rovers kinda refer to that. The franchise thing is the owner, Steve Lansdown, owning City, Bristol Rugby, and a Basketball team. Maybe an Ice Hockey one as well, all under the Sport Bristol banner.

Bit like John Hall at Newcastle did.

The "Real" Bristol club is clouded in long abandoned County boundaries. City play south of the river Avon, in what was is now Somerset, Rovers play north of it, in what is now part of Gloucestershire. But both clubs are very much ingrained in their respective regions of the city. For locals anyrate.
