Today's Football 2018-19 Season

Spurs can't compete financially, there's no way with their strict wage structure and new stadium still being paid for, that they'll have the money. Even with a Champions League win, the likes of Sancho are 100m and big transfers usually require big wages, something Spurs existing top players (Kane etc) aren't on. New transfers can't be on a huge amount compared to Kane, Erikssen, Alli, Son etc who then want more. Levy operates the club on a tight budget and although the stadium will help in time, it will take time.

Transfer inflation is pricing them out as City etc won't stand still, there's a reason Pochettino said it will be five to ten years before they can even really compete.

It wouldn't exactly be another Leicester but realistically Spurs can't really win the title unless it's an absolutely extraordinary season, they've massively overachieved this season considering no transfers and no big wages.
They have not won the league for over 55years the last time they won the fact cup was over 25years ago, they won the league cup 10years ago and ever time it gets to the important games they blow it.They should have won the league when Leicester won it but blew it.

Yes 1961 was the last time they won the league, and the only other time 1951.

The season Leicester won it was an absolute freak, it was undoubtedly their one and only chance, so many all failed badly and all at the same time, it's like is extremely unlikely to ever be seen again, almost certainly not in most of our lifetimes.

If you actually examine who has knocked Spurs out of the cups, it is more often than not teams who you might expect should beat them more often than not, City, United, Chelsea, Arsenal. Yes Spurs would have a chance but they are hardly huge surprises. Don't get me wrong, a cup would get a monkey off his back but Spurs really shouldn't be competing with these clubs anyway, in financial terms they just aren't in the same ball park

To move Spurs to a position of regularly qualifying for the Champions league from formerly only spasmodically being able to do so, is a huge achievement given the restraints on them, they have moved from a team aspiring to be amongst the top few to actually being one of them.

That is massive, far greater than winning a reserves cup.

Being a Champions league regular will do far more to eventually get Spurs competitive, winning an FA or league cup, although nice, will do next to nothing.

Nonsense but if you want to swallow the media narrative be my guest.

They are never going to win the Champions league and they are not going to win the premier league so they should be picking up an fan cup of league cup, but they dont , they got knocked out by palace.

Excellent post.

Averaging 4th place over the last decade and becoming CL regulars all while spending no money and not buying any players in the last two windows and playing two whole seasons away from home.

I'm sure there are plenty of other teams that would like to be a [Poor language removed] as us.

An excellent post because it back s your opinion, um shock that.

I'm sorry did I get it wrong, when did you last win the league or fa cup or league cup was it later than that?

About us bottling it in the season Leicester won the League. Around Christmas time we were 4th or 5th and Arsenal were top of the table. Even though we pushed them all the way to the end of the season and Arsenal only snuck into second in the last couple of weeks, it was Spurs that 'bottled it'. There might have been one week in the last 4 months of the season where we could have briefly gone top.

But Arsenal never get mentioned. I wonder why.

Ha ha seriously you are mentioning Arsenal go look what they have won. That's one weak arguement that lad I suggest you dont mention your side and Arsenal in the same sentence as forefront to an debate on chokers.

Think you missed the point. And I'm not sure you would get it if I explained it in minute detail so I will leave it there.

One game, you also fail to mention when without Kane, Ali, Son, Sissoko and Davies but wouldn't fit your agenda, I've said they haven't the squad and it shows when they pick up injuries.

To properly compete they need better squad players, not Llorente, Skip and Foyth.

Repeating Birmingham City's achievement in winning a domestic cup won't dramatically change anything.
