Rangers will in time be competing with Celtic again. Rangers always have and under the right management they have the backing from supporters and finances to get back there. This is ultimately good for Celtic because right now they're only competing with themselves to stay at the top. Once Rangers are back both clubs will have to stay at the top of their game to beat each other. Which is why I think it is noteworthy that we currently have a Scottish table that doesn't reflect the reality the gap those clubs should have.
Yes I agree with that for the most part, although possibly not so much the noteworthy part. In the early stages the one sided nature of the league isn't always as well established, the last two seasons possibly being more the exception than the rule. Celtic will almost certainly be well clear by Christmas and win it by a country mile.
Rangers under the right management could be a lot closer and Gerrard who has started extremely well despite the Livingston result could be that manager. I hope Rangers can challenge and win the league again very soon and in the meantime show huge progress this season too.
They have such a financial disadvantage that it is an uneven playing field and a really tough ask right now, even for a really top manager.
A good run in the Europa, something that seems well beyond Rodgers, to around the knockout stages, and a far closer second place would represent real progress, and perhaps a huge stepping stone to mounting a real challenge in the near future imo.
