Read a decent article on Klopp and the cup, sums it up for me even if it still would be magic if we went to Wembley and won it, it is different in their situation as its not top 4 their prioritising, it's winning the title or the Champions League which is another level altogether and giving themselves the best possible chance of doing so..

I'll print the article below in a separate post as although worth a read it is lengthy...
The rs aim over the last 20 years has been to finish in the top 4 and play in the C/L. That's it. Europe is where their deluded fan base is, so they have to play there. The priorities haven't changed just the optimism.

The title holders Man U, withdrew from the 1999–2000 competition due to their participation in the 2000 FIFA Club World Championship in South America, to take place in early 2000, thus becoming the first FA Cup winners not to defend their title. In my opinion they are mainly to blame for the demise of the competition, we as Evertonians should be applauded for turning out in such numbers on Saturday and giving this historic competition the credit it deserves.

I am not alone in thinking they have a realistic chance of winning the league and going close in the champions league this year which is completely different to just targetting the top four.

I would also like nothing better than them to win neither, in my view progression in the FA cup and especially to the later rounds would have proved a major obstacle to them realising those ambitions.

Reluctantly I would put up with them doing well in the cup if it caused headaches with fixture congestion, limited game preparation or hopefully injuries to key players as possibly more enter the so called high risk 'red' zone, and seriously hampered them in their quest to win the two major trophies

...getting knocked out could be an advantage or disadvantage, only time will tell. Personally, i’m glad they’re out. They have a similar relentless streak that reminded me lots of ourselves in 1985, I prefer to think a couple of defeats will rid that air of invincibility.

My main concern is City have little room to slip up and I wouldn’t take it for granted they will continue winning.

You're correct on all counts.

Real Madrid are doing a more than passable impression of us this season, so that rules them out of stopping the RS in the Champions League, should they meet...
