Yes it's circular if you play well and can't take your chances it effects confidence. However its been this way for years probably since Martinez's first season we haven't really competed regularly against the biggest teams.

marco HAS to get this right today. the fans will not tolerate lagging behind leicster and wham in the league.

wham are in a bigger transition period than us yet still beat top 6 teams.

suppose that's what you gwet hiring a very very successful manager who has proven himself in the big European leagues, not some no mark who has won the Luxembourg cup

It basically comes down to Aubameyang for Arsenal. He takes a chance and they win. Anything else happens and they struggle like today.

Yep, Said at the start of the season, they have three world class attackers, one of which doesn't play anymore and the rest are just alright. They have poor strength in depth.

I do. 7th means we are the best of the rest with a platform to build on. I think there is huge difference between 7th and 17th. Prize money. An EL spot. Image shown to the media and other mid-size clubs.

I don’t buy in finding excuses for MS. Fat Sam took over on 30 Nov last season and still got 8th with a weaker squad. MS then took over and spent loads to buy some good players.

I don't care what Big Sam did because anyone with eyes could tell that wouldn't work forever. I'm not finding excuses for Marco, I'm far from convinced by him, I just don't really care if he can achieve 7th because its meaningless.

Everything you gave means nothing. Prize money differences are more or less inconsequential. It's like 2 million per place. That's pennies. We don't have the squad for EL yet. Not even close. The media will be cutting the table off at 6th place still. That's why we can't move up unless we go and finish above one of those clubs. We aren't doing it this year so who cares where exactly we finish? It's better if we start to play consistently results or not.

You can't take your money to the grave with you. You take your reputation though. He doesn't need the money and is obviously good enough to play at the top level, so I think moving to China is pathetic.

Thing is hes only playing for West ham. They're never going to win anything.

No idea about chinese football but he could win something there. Only the Chinese league but better than nothing, one could argue. He coukd also say hes being a pioneer, in 20 years time people might say he was one of the brave ones who took the leap to help popularise the beautoful game in the biggest emerging market. And he gets to experience different culture etc.

And if you're going to be earning tens of millions of pounds more than its going to make anyone think.

And we spend 150 million a year now. It really means nothing. Plus are we really in any danger of finishing 17th? Most it'll be like 10 million from 7 to 12

Is our squad really that good though? I'd say we have about 8 good players and that may be generous. Plus of that 8 at least 4 are new and learning to play with each other and a new manager. I'd be thrilled to get to 7th. That said who really cares if we finish 7th 8th 9th or basically any spot down to 17th? We aren't getting any more respect unless we get to 6th. It's all about building hopefully a squad that can compete beyond this season.

and how many good players do leicester have? they have a top striker and nothing else really. Their centre mids are energetic but not great players, everyone else is average really. 7th may get europe so there is a difference between 7th and 8th.
