Today's Football 2018-19 Season

According to radio 5 it’s more him , saying he wanted a break from football . Originally at the end of the season but then the he and the club have reached this decision .

Sounds like he was happy when all things were going rosy, but for the first time he hits a wall at Huddersfield, he jumps off the ship before they get relegated so it's not on his cv. Seems a bit cowardly maybe?

I breathe a sigh of relief for another week.

... the Liverpool collapse really can't come soon enough for my nerves.

Finally, City actually have a game before the RS next gameweek, so the RS may go to west ham with the gap at just one point. Seems like City have been playing a game just too get the gap back to what it was.

Sadder though, West ham just had a big win, so odds are they won't beat RS as well, but then Leicester did with City and chelsea so who knows.

The general apathy they have towards their team is appalling. Constantly empty seats in the ground and an atmosphere where you could hear and smell a fart. I think it stems from an expectancy that they’re going to win whether the fans turn up or not and even if they don’t win anything this year they can spend big in the summer and win something next year. They’re never more than a season away from at least one trophy. They really don’t know how good they’ve got it.

If they weren’t up against you know who I wouldn’t want them to win the league simply because it means nothing to them. I just can’t get on board with that when we have an entire generation of fans who haven’t seen a trophy win (myself included) and are just desperate for something and to whom it would mean the world if we could win even a league cup.
You couldn’t make it up could you. 20 years ago success for city was avoiding a relegation scrap. They now have the best manager in the world, who has assembled arguably one of the greatest teams in recent memory and they can’t even sell out their ground and produce an atmosphere more akin to Goodison. That’s the modern football ‘fan’ for you I guess.

Think you need to go look at the fixture list again

Watched that game tonight and it's quite obvious to all but kopites that city are the best team in this league by far. It will be a travesty if city are not champions this year. I have every faith in them to overcome the deficit and win this league by about 6 points.

Of course it will be Liverpools year next year (as usual) lol

Let’s hope so. I’m glad the gap didn’t stretch to 6 or 7 as that could have been a banana skin but I can’t see Liverpool slipping up. When they play poorly they’ve either lucked out (against us, City at home, Leicester away, Fulham home) or have had some favourable refereeing (Palace away, Brighton at home, Fulham home). When they play well they’re very good and don’t concede many. Too many people in sky have decided that this is their title and they run the book makers and the tv company funding the whole thing. Would take an unbelievable collapse for them not to win it given the conditions in their favour.

The game they have in the midweek after the Cup is Leicester at home.

City travel to Barcodes the night before.

The RS have two home games before travelling to Hammers.....Palace this Saturday and that
Foxes game on January 30th.

After Hammers they have Bournemouth at home.

That’s their next four games :(

But after that they go to resurgent Manchester United :)

Though know8ng us, we will take points off’ve City that same weekend :(

I don’t th8nk it is so much the modern fan as modern football.

I notice a flat enough atmosphere when watching EPL games among the more successful and established teams when playing humdrum fixtures at home.....I include us in that latter category, given our longevity in the top flight.

But that patient, tip tap tip tap, pass around the backline type of football is not really conducive to getting fans out their seats a’ hootin’ an’ a’ hollerin’.

Your crowds at the likes of Palace or Brighon or Huddersfield are raucous enough because they are just happy to be in the big league and know they will be relegated a couple years down the line.

Regarding City not selling out their ground, I find that quite refreshing in a way.

This was a club which played to capacity crowds in the two divisions below where they are now, not so very long ago.

They travelled away in their thousands when in the third tier at the turn of the century.

At least their success has not led to a proliferation of plastic fans in its wake and their are no glory hunters buying up half the tickets on matchdays.

Not yet anyway :(
