Finland were utterly turbo gash++ last night to be fair. 4-1 flattered them. Poland on Tuesday will be a completely different kettle of lobsters I suspect.

The atmosphere was also a bit subdued last night, a bit Goodisonish.

Got my tickets for Tuesday, not confident at all. Just don’t trust in Page, but hoping to be proved wrong.
Good luck mate.

Was a boring game really. Germany have a few good players but their style is too slow.
For a side that has produced the likes of Klose, Podolski, Muller, Gomes, Bierhoff, & Klinsmann, I don't see that machine to be relied upon in front of goal. Some of them were nearly superhuman, could always rely on Germany going far in every tournament.

Moukoko is very talented and they have another coming through soon called Weiper but even then, they're not of the same ilk as those you listed. You need a start centre forward to go anywhere in international footie really.

It's probably because I'm getting old, but is it that the production line isn't geared to make em anymore, athletes before rampant goal scorers. To much tippy tappy walking the ball into the net, do it with ballet instead of sheer might. Maybe defending has gotten better, and players now never getting on the ale and being rough. We've got a generation of race horses, and very few have any charisma or personality. The most bland, featureless, distant, vapid culmination iteration of the worlds so considered top game.

Imagine being a kid today, and trying to emulate some tit on fortnite or roblox or minecraft or whatever.

To be fair, I do think the level of coaching has gone up in terms of how teams defend. It's not that often you see two open teams go at each other. If you watch old PL games from the Fergie years it was like going up against an Angeball Spurs every week with giant gaps all over the spot to attack. Teams have no space now and only the super smart players like an Odegaard and KDB can find gaps.

I feel like I want to blame Pep.

His Barcelona side and that manner of playing was floating around in my mind as I talked around him nearly.

Plus international footie is very tense and cagey (no puns allowed) as it is.

It's why I watch more Bundesliga than anything else since those cats don't care about clean sheets whatsoever.
So if he is allowed to dominate the CL for a while, does he go down as the greatest ever? And how does the game evolve in the meantime. Italy can't stockpile talent like it could until someone wealthy with black gold scoops up one of their sides and bankrolls them off the books.

Imagine sheik whoever buys for sake of arguement Cagliari, runs the club on what it earns but also sets up a one off game in Dubai say every summer to funnel half a billion euro's into them. Technically it's what the club has earned whilst no competitor is invited. Imagine this under the era of the cold war, Dinamo Moscow (Soviet backed) vs Washington Patriots (CIA backed). High stakes football played out by differing political regimes with the world watching. Bit like Rollerball.
