Today's Football - 2023/2024 Season

Madrid lucks as, city miles better than them over 2 legs.

I appreciate there’s more than 1 way to win a game of football, but the possession city had over both matches showed their superiority. The best team in Europe won’t be winning the CL this year.
Possession is a style or choice - not the definition of superiority. Pep's teams can only play one way - and they get caught out more often than not in Europe when he is faced with other clubs just as powerful as his.

Are City the best team in Europe? They might very well be. But if that's the case, Pep is underachieving once more - just as he did for years at City and indisputably at Bayern when he inherited the European champions from Jupp Heynckes (who had beaten the mighty Barcelona of Messi 7-0) and won nothing in Europe - losing three times to Real (again), Barcelona (who they had crushed two years earlier) and Atletico.

The veneration of Pep in England is ludicrous. Yes, he's a great coach, but other great coaches exist and I would argue that there are two better than him today, both of whom manage or managed on Merseyside.

The Bundesliga is having a great season - new champions (badly needed), Dortmund and Bayern in the CL semis, and Leverkusen looking a decent bet to win the Europa. It hasn't sold its soul for money and still places fans at the heart of the game. That's something worth celebrating.

Just a shame Bayern couldn't be kicked out the league there. If they were sent packing it would be a great league overall as the fan experience there is already top notch.

Why would you kick them out? Their financial advantage is entirely organic, the result of brilliant financial management - not of oil money, human rights violation, or despotism.

The problem with the Bundesliga is not Bayern's excellence. It's the utterly shambolic mismanagement of their natural rival clubs: Hamburger SV, Schalke 04, Hertha BSC, Kaiserslautern, 1860 Munich, etc. Basically, Germany is full of huge clubs who have been run like Everton.
