I'm not Pickford's biggest fan, he does have some mad moments, but I don't think he has ever let England down.
I love him. We'd have been relegated last few years if not for him in my opinion. Also my son is a goalie because of him and wears his Pickford kit for every game he plays out here in Spain. So I'm dead biased. But appreciate everyone has their opinions

What I took from last night.

Watkins absolutely fits Aston Villa style of play - but doesn't quite cut it for England, at least under Southgate.

Bowen - a similar situation for me, even though he wasn't actually that bad.

Branthwaite - probably didn't do himself justice, as opposed to realising the game was done, I think people will see the yellow and cast judgement.

Alexander Arnold - Despite being unconvinced by him at DM, his passing can't be doubted and I reckon he'll be a nap for the XI alongside Rice.

England have a very solid core of players in

Pickford, Stones, Walker, Tripper, Rice, Foden, Bellingham, Palmer, Saka, Kane, Alexander Arnold.
There are some who I don't think are good enough (Maddison, Bowen, Dunk, Watkins) but lots of reason to be excited.

The emergence of Eze, Wharton, Branthwaite, Mainoo I think is exciting for future and if all continue their upwards trajectory; they'll have an excellent international career.

7 I'd drop

Trafford
Quansah
Jones
Maddison
Bowen - I just don't see how he gets minutes
Watkins - Not suited to the system
Dunk - I'd take Konsa over Dunk

I think that's pretty much the 7 I'd go for I think. It's a bit harsh on Bowen and Maddison especially as they've been doing well for England recently, but I couldn't think of who to drop them for. I reckon it's a straight choice between Eze and Maddison for one position. And Bowen is competing with the likes of Saka, Foden and Palmer on the right

I don't dislike Bowen - I think there's a reason he's performed as well as he has for West Ham, he's got a lot of quality features.

It's wrong time, wrong place for me.

If it's a toss up between Gordon and Bowen, I take Gordon, as I think he's just got that little more quality.

I don't think Maddison is actually that good. When he shows flashes of brilliance I can't argue, but it's more often than not flashes, rather than sustained periods.

Eze shouldn't even be in consideration; the fella has such a raw quality, a bit like Doku, which could be crucial if a game goes to Extra Time. Unbelievable player, surely he doesn't miss out now?

Decent podcast where they look back at previous World Cup and Euro's

I recently started the 1986 one and now I have "Diamond Lights" stuck in my head

Snide left hook. Big hit from a big girl. Amazing there wasn't a full ruck there. Have a season off, crud tackle as well.
