If a penalty is awarded or a sending off issued then have a video referee check the decision is correct. Wouldn't slow the game down as there's always a delay in play when those things happen anyway and would stop teams conceding or being handicapped unfairly.
That would be incredibly easy to implement and improve fairness massively.
I'm quite happy Utd have thumped Norwich. I don't like Norwich and this is a massive finger to Moyes
yeah i understand that part, but what if the ref doesn't think it's a pen and is happy to play on, he can't just blow up in case he made a mistake? what do you do then, play on with a drop ball in the penalty area? wait for the next stoppage and go back to it? or just continue the game as if he got it right and then have everyone moan after that video could have been used, but wasn't?
So if the ref on the pitch is biased and gives decisions in a certain teams favour why do you think a ref in the stand with a video is gonna be any different?
If its for mistakes then it may well improve if a ref is 100% wrong on the pitch but for contentious decisions there's no guarantee a video ref won't judge a decision in favour of one team leaving the other teams fans fuming.
And you think that happens now when a studio full of pundits pore over every angle and still cant decide? What makes you think a ref in the stand will get it right? It's down to yet another person's interpretation, not a fact waiting to be discovered. There would be less incorrect decisions given if replays from multiple angles were available. That's all that matters.

If its done right, if refs on the pitch use it as an aid to help them do their job.
It wouldn't be the miracle cure to calls that go against you that some fans think it will.
A ref with a video could have watched the Osman/Wellbeck penalty incident today 6 times and agreed with the match ref.
Sometimes officials clearly get it wrong because they make a decision in a split second without the chance of seeing the incident multiple times. A video system would cut down on those game changing mistakes. That's all that matters.
Dont talk daft mate. The ref in the stand would likely have backed that up by agreeing he'd gone in studs up.Sometimes officials clearly get it wrong because they make a decision in a split second without the chance of seeing the incident multiple times. There's absolutely no way Jack Rodwell would have had his red card against Suarez upheld had a referee in the stands been given the final say, as everybody in the world except Martin Atkinson knew it wasn't a red upon seeing it again.

It'd have to be the most spectacular of gaffes for any reversal of a decision...which doesn't happen that often to warrant the change.
