if villa beat hull, hull are down to 15th having played a game more than those around them who could also finish above them. how did this happen? they're a very good team.

yep, sorry I know he is - thought it was something to do with you.

A long standing Palace supporting friend of mine did explain it to me - something to do with being the nearest team to Brighton... who knows?

some more toffees can be justified into wanting us to lose today now imo. i'd never want my team to lose, but lets just say it will be one of the least arsed defeats (probably the least) if we were to lose. nothing wrong with that, that's not bitter, i'd expect a majority of liverpool fans would feel the same if roles were reversed.

Yeah, 6th is the LC spot which means 2 qualifying games to reach the group stages.

Assuming we don't get 4th and finish 5th : if Hull win the FA cup we play 1 qualifying round, if Arsenal win the FA cup and get 4th we go straight to the group stages.
 
5th place means Europa starting later, which gives us more time to, rest a lot of World Cup players,strengthen the squad, and still get in a good pre-season. So to me, 5th is a must. This could be secured today with out kicking a ball!
