No, huge clubs like Real Madrid and great players like Ronaldo would be missed in the competition. Arsenal wouldn't be missed for that reason and they don't add any excitement of any other nature such as creating an intimidating home atmosphere. Perhaps that's why you've been spanked every time you've played someone good. Good home support can count for a lot. It helped Liverpool a lot in 2005, for example. It also meant their games weren't mind-numbingly boring, even if the football wasn't great.

We've rarely been spanked when coming up against someone of quality at home in the Champions League the only one I can remember if you can really call it a spanking is Bayern last year where we were defeated 3-1 at home. Drew and beat Barca at home when they were at their prime and also hammered AC Milan 3-0 in the years that have just passed.

I'm assuming your trying to make a point for us to drop out of the Champions League to be replaced by somebody more ambitious? My response to that is, there are ambitions but to fulfill those ambitions you must have the means.

Next season is going to be fascinating as their are potentially 5 teams who could be competing for the title with one obviously missing out on the Champions League spot.

he's hurting deep down. it was all mind games, but deep down he knew they were right in the title mix, he wouldn't have celebrated like at anfield purely because he'd the title out of their hands.

there's every chance liverpool don't win tonight and then chelsea are right in it with the chance of city slipping up under the pressure. put money on city and chelsea top 2 as well ffs, hope it wasn't much. but they cocked up, agree with what he says about nowrich, they truly deserve to go down. when you see teams who do that great escape things they just throw hell for leather and try and win every game, whereas they would have been cautious earlier in the season. i.e. fulham and wigan picking up shock wins, even sunderland have done it in the last few weeks and saved themselves from nowhere because they went to such places to win.
