UTD are poor an have been for a few years, though still winning things is testament to Fergusons approach, more than player ability.

Don't know what on earth has happened with Rooney, to warrant d'or nomination

Potential is there, but so is jonjo shelvey

I rate Shelvey higher right now.

Hmm, think you're underselling them to be honest.

Podolski is ace, Gervinho has come on leaps and bounds this year, Arteta is Arteta, Cazorla is more than "decent", Wilshere has the potential to be far above that too, Oxlade-Chamberlain is pretty exciting, Rosicky was immense at the end of last year but is currently injured and defensively, on paper, Vermaelen and a much improved Koscielny aren't bad.

They definitely have holes but they look a better team than last year. Unfortunately the one individual they lost was the league's top scorer. If Giroud can get a decent return and others can chip in -- which I'd expect Podolski to do -- then I don't see them being troubled for a top 4 position.

On paper, you're right, and I'd forgotten Podolski to be fair. Gervinho will never be a first rate Premier League striker and I take your point about Vermaelen but Koscielny and Mertersacker are no great shakes IMO. Arteta is still a long way short of how he was in his pomp as well.

I wasn't underselling Cazorla by saying he was decent, it's used slightly different in north east Scotland. I've always used decent in a sort of sarcastic tone, like saying, aye, he's not bad that Ronaldo lad, kind of a deliberate understatement if you will.

Spurs are better 1-11 right now if you ask me.

Shocking pen. No excuse for missing the target from the spot. At least make the keeper make a save.

So he'd have been better just aiming for the middle of the goal so its an easy save for the keeper than aiming to put it out of his reach in the corner but slightly over hitting it?

The whole hitting the target thing is rubbish really, any player could just do that, but you have to to try and get it past a keeper at the same time which makes it more difficult.

Sorry mate its a phrase that annoys me so felt like a rant lol.

Well yes, on paper. That was my point. At the end of the day a sh*t team on paper can finish in a good position, and vice versa.

But Arsenal look stronger depth-wise than last year from where I'm standing, especially when they get more players back from injury and those just back get back into their stride.

Gervinho isn't really a proper striker I don't think, but he's looked more threatening and comfortable in the league this year. And Koscielny really is a quality CB. At first he wasn't -- he was awful -- but now he's loved by Arsenal fans. Mertesacker is utter pants but that's why I didn't mention him. They definitely lack defensive depth but they could have the best players in the world in their back five and I'd still fancy them to act like headless chickens. Wenger and defending is like Moyes (pre-this season) with attacking.

Aye but putting the ball 2 yards wide from a distance of 12 yards? If that'd been an Everton player, I'd be furious.

And of course, if you're aiming at the centre of the goal, it's not going to be an easy save as you're going to hit it with a lot more power.

I could understand hitting the outside of the post and going wide but missing by that far? Not acceptable for a professional, especially a forward.

And their collection of keepers are prone to howlers of the highest magnitude, yet they have the best defensive record this season.

It's utter madness and makes no sense to me. I agree, they'll probably finish top four but only because Spurs will bottle is in the run in again.

Santos, after having a stinking half, swapped shirts with RVP. Is it just me or would you fume if that was one of our players?
