He shouldn't be forced to wear a poppy. We shouldn't mind differing views as long as he isn't staging demos at servicemen's funerals or anything like that. As for the generalising of a nation's people, that's a tad out of line, mate. As you say, Coleman was happy to wear one.

Yeah I know. I was just making the point that the Irish arnt all wonderful like the media has painted them out to be recently.

Sectarian bull**** needs to end.

For me, James McClean made a sectarian statement today. IF you dont agree that's fine, but a lotm of people will be sharing my view.

Oh and it makes it even more retarded when you take into account Ireland also lost soldiers in WW1.

Just pure sectarianism. Blinded by hate that they cant even respect their own dead.

McClean is an absolute tit but this really doesn't make him any more or less of a tit.

You really can't force people to represent something they don't care to represent.

Whilst you're on British soil, getting paid by a British club, in front of British fans in a period of rememberance, you respect our dead soldiers.

Wearing a poppy is optional mate. It's down to the individual. People and institutions shouldn't be emotionally blackmailed wearing one. It's up to them.

It's a tremendous cause and the Legion do superb work for ex servicemen but the poppy is not compulsory.

but you didn't know who Rev Iain Paisley was. How can you even begin to claim you know what the situation is?

I was educated on it by people on here. Let's not talk about it anyway as I dont want this thread to be locked.

I have my opinion on all of that.

I also have my opinion on this. Him and John O'Shea were wrong and disrespectful to refuse to wear one.

Jesus

Even for you thats a ****ing stupid comment

If he doesnt want to wear a poppy then so be it

I think the active choice to REFUSE to wear one (as they obviously did) is a sectarian statement.

If they didnt feel strongly either way, they could have just put the designated shirt on anyway and not really given a **** except realise they were in a country where we are all in a period of rememberance.
