ToffeeWeb

Eugene Ruane was another memorable poster, very funny guy.
I remember Eugene he had a very distinctive and hilarious writing style. There was one particular post of his I remember when the furore over the new badge came out and somebody very innocently mentioned that people should buy the merchandise as it might be worth some money in the future.

He responded with a brilliant and spectacular whimsical post about an old dear who appears on Antiques Roadshow years in the future with an Everton mug and gets her hopes dashed in brutal fashion.

I remember one of my favourite things on it being the match reports written by an old fellow (Ken Lawrence? Not sure) who has sadly passed away. 'From my seat' . He had a real talent for the written prose, and was probably the best match reports I read regularly. Really miss those.

Ken Buckley?

Ken Buckley

A pity it will now most likely turn into a clickbait site. I never frequented it habitually but it was always useful to visit if you wanted avoid the bull and daft speculation and just cut to what was really happening.

A few thoughts and musings.

Blue Kipper was great in its day, just full of random off the cuff articles. Tattoos, babies, look-a-likes, you name it, it had it. Fun and sadly missed.

Toffeeweb was the sensible platform. Great articles by proper fans. I think it was Paul Trail (might be wrong), I loved reading his reviews. More of a fans day out than a review. Where he went, how he got there what he drank...something we can all appreciate.

My Dad (he wasn't really into the internet or computers but some how stumbled across this site) would always read Ken Buckleys articles. They were good. Detailed, like reading a match report from years ago and I understood why he had time for him.

Just read through Toffeeweb, all articles are from Anjishnu Roy, a sports reporter. Disappointing.

Time doesn't stand still, but real fans posting like Ken and Paul will be missed.
