Now I know that site has lost its forum, for a while it has gone down the tubes. And good riddance, the negativity on that site was legendary, even caused me to lose my positive outlook on life.

Since I came here that negativity changed and I was more optimistic, but it now seems that disease is rearing its ugly head again, lets try and be a little more positive and take the fact that we have had bad injuries in pre-season and early season, and that's why the boss has had to make certain selections.

But the overall ambition of the club and the manager, and the players is something that is a credit, and we should recognise that instead of jumping down the manager's throat at every opportunity.

Also lets give Yakubu the chance to prove to all the doubters (bizarre as he has a better record that AJ) wrong. He's only played a few games, it takes time for some players to bed in.

Now there are players who have come in for criticism, and rightly so. But there are players who have proven themselves in other games and other colours, but they are not doing it at the moment, so we should look at them and not so much the manager. We afford Moyes the luxury to select the best team, and in large he does that.

Sometimes he gets it wrong, but more often than not he does well, and that goes largely unnoticed. Could that be because people will always look to the manager when it goes wrong in one game? One minute he's god the next he's under fire and people want him out. One minute BK is bringing in investment, the next minute people want him out.

But what proves to me that these people know sweet FA is after the Bolton game. Drawing 1-1 each, Moyes brings on Gravesen in the 60th minute. He changes the game, and actually provides the cross for the winning goal in the last minute. Yet nobody recognised that fact, they simply moaned at Moyes making his subs too late. What the [Poor language removed] is going on? Stop moaning, stop bringing out all the old chestnuts. Its ridiculous. Real fans don't complain about a manager who has been a revelation at this club. Anyone else may as well support Chelsea.

Frustration more than negativity I think Ghost. (y)

It's inevitable that there was plenty of negative comment after last nights game because we didn't play at all well and most here were very frustrated by it. If such a mood continues after tempers have calmed down then perhaps we have reason to worry but I wouldn't be too concerned by an isolated incident.

I'd say it was both in equal measure. Some people are quite quick to moan at times though. It does frustrate me the quick to criticise people but you get that in all walks of life. The key is how you deal with those people yourself. I tend to shout back when I feel it is necessary but often the best course of action is to just ignore them.

Well you shout and then you get abused, and then you take the time to make a serious point and then you get moronic replies. We need more maturity on here, and I don't just mean in age. WeltonToffee is still at school I think but his posts are years beyond his age, yet last night someone approaching 40 was acting like a school kid.

So perhaps ignorance is more of suitable tactic.

Toffeeweb is only a vehicle for the opinions of many Evertonians, wether we like it or not, there is a large contingent of Blues that are very unhappy at the way the club is run and the quality of football being played. While I agree that negativity can be infectious and that we shouldn’t just jump on the bandwagon and criticize the management and players, we must also see that criticism is what all ambitious people need to push themselves on further.

We'd be foolish just to look at what’s good and forget the bad things because then we would just slide away. Partly what has kept Everton going through the last few dark years has been the demand from the fans for quality, without that ambition we would probably have been relegated.

I understand what your saying ghost, but while looking at the positives lets not chastise those that come on here and point out the negatives simply because we don’t want to hear them.

Well I will if you don't mind. Slagging off the boss last night was totally unfair. He put out the best team he had available. Hibbert and Neville have limits on what they can produce, Faddy seems to be limited in what he can produce for Everton. and AJ needs to learn how to score again. None of those elements were the manager's fault last night.

I just think people made their mind up about Moyes a while ago and just wait for bad things to happen to say, told you so bollocks.

All this negative energy doesn't give for a good atmosphere. The ground last seemed silent midway through the first half - not anywhere near the atmosphere we needed.

Bottom line is the majority of Evertonians have been through the dark ages that now there are in the light they are finding it hard to adjust to the brightness. So they find it easier to moan.

I dont agree with you. With so many Evertonians feeling negative and expressing that, you cant just brush it off, say that their opinions are not valid to create a false air of optimism.

On the whole most blues appreciate that Moyes has taken us some way, but to expect optimism after last night is crazy. Just let people vent their frustrations, I dont hear people calling for Moyes head or demanding players be sold immediately. Its only natural to feel gutted, as it stands we're out of europe if we dont score after one round and we were the the seeded team. No amitious Evertonian can be happy with that result or seem positives from it.

some ace positive quotes by GOD.

Well that was [Poor language removed] [Poor language removed], the ref was [Poor language removed]. AJ was [Poor language removed], i'm sorry but he [Poor language removed] was, no cutting edge nothing, no bottle, no composure. Hibbert can just [Poor language removed] off too!!!!

Tourette's? If you don't like it you can all [Poor language removed] off, defend that performance if you will? it was [Poor language removed] from start to finish. Why oh why did the most attacking players turn out to be our 3 defenders (not including Hibbert in that because guess what? he's [Poor language removed]). Why was it that everytime the ball got played into the scottish boy wonder he controlled it around 5 ft in front of him?

How come AJ just seemed to be trying to lean into players to try and get something on the ball, why didn't he try and peel off players and use his pace?

It was just awful, I hope we lose in the second leg, because we just don't deserve it whatsoever.

Rubbish, this team should have been walked over, it should have been easy like it was for Spurs tonight. Basically we had players who should not be on the pitch, I can think of around 6 who I wouldn't have picked from the start:

AJ
Faddy
Osman
Hibbert
Carsley
Neville

Well perhaps its the football we are playing, we play too deep and constantly force the long ball all the time.

Not really enterprising stuff.

Would you have AJ in and boot Yakubu out? I think Yakubu is looking more threatening then AJ to be honest.

Well I think time has to be called on Carlsey, [Poor language removed] annoys me when he points backwards when we are on the halfway line. [Poor language removed] attack you baldy ****!!!!

Christ, annoys me when I see teams taking other teams to task, attacking, looking at passing the ball to feet. But we just pass the ball to feet then fall in a heap or we pass to Faddy who can't control a ball unless he's wearing a Scottish shirt.

Well its a combination of things. But I think it comes down to this:

1. Hoofing the ball
2. Not getting enough crosses in
3. Not picking out the through balls.

the fact this thread is called toffeeweb says it all for me.

Not noticed any more negativity beyond yesterdays debacle. Everyone has a right to be negative- we're crashing out of europe again at the first hurdle after spending millions in the summer transfer window.

I believe moyes is a great manager, but it has come to a stage where he has to rethink huge parts of his philosophy.

We were techincally inept yesterday - and they were his players out there. In the premiership - the top four, newcastle, spurs, villa, blackburn, west ham are all technically superior to us.

We need to improve on these players - neville and carsley in midfield, hibbert at right back, AJ missing penalties - jesus [Poor language removed]' wept - all the sunny dispositions in the world won't help until we have players that know how to pass at a level of continental football.

I will, for the first time, be betting against everton on the return leg. When they play that [Poor language removed], they can at least pay for my drinks at the end of it.

Well the difference in my comments are that they are warrented with fact. And not just an aimless tirade against the manager. Getting sick of defending myself to be honest. I will say it one more time.

WE HAD FOUR [Poor language removed] CREATIVE MIDFIELDERS INJURED LAST NIGHT, 5 IF YOU WANT TO INCLUDE VDM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The manager had to make some choices, and apart from maybe Jagielka coming he couldn't do anything else, he went with a positive formation, and it would have paid dividends if AJ never [Poor language removed] up the penalties.

The difference is mate, I make comments about what I see on the pitch, and I don't revert to old chestnuts about the managers lack of tactical ability. The players let him down, plain and [Poor language removed] simple.

I also put the majority of blame onto the shoulders of the players. But I also think we went into this season with the naive idea that our squad was big enough and that gravesen would do as another midfielder.

we needed more. Sure Moyes wasn't to blame for fernandes [Poor language removed] us off, nor was he to blame for riquelme, but someone should have been bought - as to have to play 60 games with the lack of obvious quality in our midfield isn't just unfortunate.

sure we had injuries. But dealing with them is part of a managers job.

I'm not getting on the manager. I think he's the best for everton. but if he fails to learn lessons from games such as last night, then I'll re-evaluate my opinion.

What lesson can he learn from last night? Don't let AJ take penalties, stop Hibbert from hoofing it. Wrap Arteta in cotton wool before these type of games?

Moyes did bring in 2 creative midfielders, both are injured that is unforseen. We don't have the money to spend on a massive squad. That's just not available as yet. We also had 2 established creative midfielders injured, again unforseen. The other being VDM who just isn't going to play at all.

Plus we still have Osman, so out of 6 creative midfielders, 1 was available. So do you think we need to buy 7 or 8, maybe 9 creative midfielders? I just don't see how that makes sense.

Teams get injuries and they have to deal with them. I would rather see a close knit squad with players playing regularly then a massive squad where the quality is spread to thin, just to make up the numbers.
