Yaya is so much more effective further forward. He really struggled in the box-to-box role that he played in so well during 2012-14 last season because of his poor fitness (injury wise).

Matic is superb. But as far as DM's go in the Prem at the moment, it's hard to think of another who is better. Only thing lacking for McCarthy to be the perfect DM is passing range. He's good at popping it about quickly, but lacks the vision of Matic. That's why he can be effective in a box-to-box 'powerhouse' role. He has the legs and is good enough on the ball to beat a man and get a shot away (e.g. Utd at home in April).

RM on the Cleves signing, load of dog pooh typical RM.

“We are extremely delighted to be welcoming Tom to Everton and I can think of many reasons as to why our fans will enjoy Tom representing our football club," Martinez said once the club had announced the imminent signing.

“The most important one is that he is a perfect fit for what we are trying to build here as he has so much experience of playing in the Premier League and he still has his best years just ahead of him.

“At the age of 25 and a player who is representing his country, Tom has experienced winning trophies and having big roles in demanding teams. Having worked with him previously, I know the type of character he is and I know that, with the Everton fans' support, we will get a very special footballer joining our already exciting team.

“It says a lot also, when someone like Tom is available on a free transfer and he can pick his next club out of many options home and abroad, that he has chosen to play for our football club. That's the perfect start to his career here at Everton.”

If Cleves was so good how come Man U let his contract run down, sent him out on loan a few times, but we shall see.

In the late 60's / early 70's, Everton fans of an older generation were lucky enough to witness the original footballing 'Holy Trinity', of Kendall, Ball and Harvey. Now, in 2015, are we about to witness a new biblical uprising in the middle of the Goodison Park pitch, with a dream midfield of Osman, Barry and Cleverley.........
