Bill is tremendous at working hard to bring in these free transfers Steve. He spoiled Moyes with them.

Not sure whether youre having a pop there or not ! There is certainly a lot of merit in finding decent players at the end of contracts who will do a decent job....scouring the 'not retained' listings each summer does throw up a lots of dross, but at the same time there are good deals to be done. Cleverley is a worthwhile punt, and he won't be the only signing before next season, with the names depending on availability and whether anyone is persuded to leave that we don't want to go(by their agent or a modern day version of Stretford). Distins wages will be close to covering Cleverleys wages, and so financially its a win win situation for Everton...and if Cleverley moves on from Everton, it won't be on a free !!!

It is not quite beyond the realms of possibility that a near-future England team could include Baines,Jagielka, Stones, Barkley, and Cleverley !! WEll, not quite....

I voted no even tho' my logical head says it's a decent signing, relatively.

Problem is that we often sign Utd cast-offs...just doesn't feel right for us.

Anyone who still thinks that Tom Cleverly is not a smart signing must go check themselves ASAP. A lot of people were complaining when we signed Lennon on loan and look how it turned out, he basically saved our season.

If you want to support a club that spends a lot of money on 'established' players every window then you can go and support Liverpool. A lot of exciting signings there, and no stupid free transfers of 25-yo England internationals.

Cleverly has everything to be a really good player for a team that pushes for a top 4 spot, and he didn't cost us anything. And if it doesn't work out, we can always sell him, clubs like Villa or Sunderland will always come for him.

Phenomenal and at an incredible moment in his career, still has his best years just ahead of him.
Welcome to Everton Tom Cleverly
