According to wikipedia he was initially at the Bradford academy before going to Man Utds, seems odd to call him a London lad.

His wife is from the South though so perhaps her career is the one driving any move to London although as @maccavennie says there have been people you'd think were closer to him who have reported he wants to stay in the area.
Was a bit dubious when Merson was saying that, he was born in Basingstoke, hardly London.

Don't know about Merson being ITK , but for a few weeks now he's mentioned about Cleverley going to London, he said Cleverley is a London lad, and he's going to end up there. It's the first time though he's mentioned to West Ham. The funny thing is he laughed at him going to Arsenal because he said he wasn't good enough for Arsenal.

Yeh proper cockernee lad is Tom, having played for err, United, Leicester, Wigan and Villa. Fair enough he's from near London but he's been at United since 2000. Merson is talking out of his hoop.

A quick wiki would suggest he may have been born down south, but he was raised in Bradford, and played for their academy before United's!

Edit: Covered ages ago. Also, so do we actually want Cleverley now then?

True but he has a young kid, when they are settled in a place (especially with support systems like grandparents etc) makes it a lot harder to move.

he can afford a MONORAIL! his kid can just hop on the monorail and will be in school from villa to manchester within 20 minutes. same if the kid wanted to meet up with their friends.

Who cares, supposedly his other half is a Southern girl

Has the M6 improved a lot in recent years? When I was commuting on it that bit around Birmingham was awful , regularly spent hours in traffic jams and wished I had my own personal monorail! Our plan to move to California was probably born in one such traffic jam so perhaps I should say thanks M6!

SoCal? How's that traffic then for ya?

i live in wales. i thought the massive flag and my patriotic posts made that obvious :P

Bay Area mate, traffic not that bad especially since you aren't often driving in the pouring rain with a lorry 3in behind which I often seemed to do at 5am round Birmingham!

I did a couple of jobs on the southern side of the bay and the traffic was awful (worked a couple of jobs at Apple HQ a couple of years ago)

It can be bad, especially if you want to get into San Francisco at peak times or as you say across the bay where there is more truck traffic. But still doesn't seem as awful as the 4am starts I had to do to avoid the Birmingham crush - perhaps the sunny weather makes it appear better? The first day of the winter rains is amazing though, months without rain and everyone has forgotten how to drive in wet conditions - absolute chaos!
