Interesting that UTD could have got a decent fee from Everton in January but they sent him to Villa instead and effectively released him, rumored at the time, it was because we wouldn't do a deal with them for James McCarthy.

He was on season long loan at Villa. He refused a permanent move last summer instead preferring to run his contract down, probably for a signing on fee.

I'm currently viewing this as a good first signing for an area of the squad that needs strenghtening. We're bringing him in over two months before the season starts too.

Talk is cheap. Ill be surprised if he gets one, if he does I'll be surprised if he makes the first team, if he does I'll be surprised if he plays in any of the three midfield roles. He's played pretty much the same midfield for two seasons, when he wants to change it he often goes more defensive if anything. He's barely ever taken up the option of Osman or Pienaar in a central role.
