Think he'll prove useful. Not the best by any stretch, but a very experienced player (especially at 25) and can play anywhere in midfield. Nothing wrong with this signing. I'm really starting to wonder what some fans expect from us? Spending millions in very position? Maybe it's because I haven't seen the glory years, but there's absolutely nothing wrong with this signing IMO.
You'd give him a 5 year deal , if the report is correct?

Why stress about the length of a contract? He's 25, not 35. All it means is that if we sell him, we can make a pretty handsome profit on him (fee wise). Free agents at his age will always get lengthy deals, but it means nothing in the grand scheme of things other than we can demand more if we sell him.

I can understand that it's not the most inspiring signing, but I do think it's a decent one. For me, the length of the deal is irrelevant because of his age. If he was 29/30 then obviously it'd be a concern, but I think it'll be fine. Hey, he could become a world beater and we can sell him for £20mil in 2 years!

Remember how underwhelmed people were with Gibson and I know his body is shot but everyone said he was a crap player but when he's fit his as good as any of our midfielders.

Just because you don't make it at United doesn't mean you're not a good player or you can't be a better player at a different player. When he got some confidence back (for the first time in a couple of years) he really started to blossom and make an impact on matches.
