Jagielka and Williams have been guarded by Gueye and Barry this season.
Suddenly Barry is partnered with someone even less mobile than he is and we have a gaping, Cleverley-sized hole in front of our back four.

Some have said Jags and Williams were to blame, but the likes of Holgate would have been destroyed by Chelsea on Saturday in that scenario and set his career back years. Barry with Gueye provides a shield, Barry with Cleverley provides a chocolate fireguard. Therein lies the problem - Mr Thomas £50k-a-week Cleverley.

Phil Neville without the pointing, Simon Davies with out the hair, Alex Nyarko without the huffing.... Tom Cleverley.

He isn't a holding midfielder to be fair mate. Any of Gueye, McCarthy and Besic would have played ahead of him in that role if available.

What is he then? Does he even have a position? Describe what he is....?

All I can think of is "imposter stealing a living".

Name me one attribute of a midfielder than he is better than 5/10 in?
 
Still not as bad as everyone makes out

Every player was cack on Saturday, it wasn't solely down to him

Should be near the back of the queue when it comes to starting at Centre Mid, ahead of perhaps Gibson unless it's one of the few days a year where Daz the Rummy is actually sober, and I would have played Davies on Saturday

That being said, he still gets backwash hate from people who hate Martinez due to him being a Martinez signing and having a fit bird

Wasn't specifically to blame for Saturday, but did nowt to reverse the downward spiral. Par for the course for The Clev

Thoroughly average in every way, but not awful either

I watched the little dweeb closely frandel, he was muttering dissenting viletalk under his snivelley breath undermining the admittedly terrible work of 'Two Jags, one's old and crap the others my new car' Koemoyes

I see mate, you've got your hands behind your back, backing off in a low crouch, shoulder slightly turned without ever threatening to get a tackle, I mean comment, in.

Genuinely, have Everton ever been as crap in the prior decade as they have been in the 15 months since Snivelley snivelled his weasley way into L4? Can't be a coincidence
 
Cleverley runs around a bit, makes nice neat sideways and square passes, throws his arms up occasionally and that's about it really.

In terms of making an impact on a game, he offers virtually nothing.

At the end of the day, that's what they're actually there for, isn't it? Impact-making.

It's very difficult to look back on a game he was involved in and pick out any moments where his contribution changed anything.

Pretty much another of the "try to look busy whilst doing nothing" lot.

I'm absolutely at a loss as to what it is he does.

Him and Steve Walsh must be pissing themselves.
