2018/19 Tom Davies

The evidence for this grows every passing week.

The evidence is that Gomes is looking like a cracking signing but who is his back up. Schneiderlin or Davies. Davies every day.

So a 25 year old full international who has had experience of playing for one of the biggest club sides is better than a 20 year old who has been playing in a mid table Premier league side. During that time that 20 year old has acquitted himself well considering the turmoil around the football management that we have had.

I fully expect that he is looking at Gomes and seeing exactly what he needs to improve to become a better player. I can certainly see a player there and this break out of the limelight and reflection with a better player ahead of him will benefit him no end, if he wants it.

I thought this myself, i do wonder if Davies is now seen by Silva as not being good enough

i think he wanted to change things up a bit more than just bringing in a slightly more defensive minded midfielder. Going 3 at the back and still having Gana & Gomes gave Coleman & Digne a bit more licence to help out/start any counter attacks.

If Gana or Gomes were injured then I fully expect that he would have gone for Davies.

Seeing and training alongside Andre Gomes is only going to help Davies in his development. I wouldn't be surprised to see a much-improved Tom when he does get a chance in the team, which I'm sure he will in December / January. A spell on the sidelines I don't think would hurt him currently, either.

I think he is seeing Gomes and feeling the cold chill of reality

I see League One in his very near future.
